I didn't but this book with the intention to lose 20kg, I was more curious as to how Lola did it - basically she did it by eating well, not eating crap and not overeating. I met Lola some years ago when she was marketing her short foodie documentaries - she was very likeable, confident and quirky - not dissimilar to the girl most of us know today. I must admit I love seeing the rise of a persons career having seen them in their infancy.

So, the book covers her story which is her honest account of her weight issues - namely overeating, especially sugary and sweet foods. It takes a lot of guts for a nutritionist to admit their eating faults so I give her cred for that. She also writes in a style that sounds like it her - such as her use of the term 'nana' for bananas, and makes no apology for her hippy earth child persona she can get hassled for.

Adele McConnell-Cummins aka VegieHead, has produced an e-book entitled 'Vegan Essentials - a Plant Based culinary Journey'. Based on the dishes that inspire her webiste www.vegiehead.com, Adele shows off her fabulous food styling and photography along with mouthwatering recipes that include snacks, drinks, mains, desserts, cooked and raw food.

What I love about Adele's approach to veganism is the love of plant based food - though I am not a vegan, I do eat vegan dishes often and love her talent for creating dishes inspired from all over the world. I like the fact that Adele, a staunch animal lover, is not in your face about the horrors of animal cruelty that so many vegans seem to need to do.

Try her 'vegan pho', 'potato and rosemary pizza' and 'better than Reece's peanut butter cheescake'

"Raw & Beyond - How omega-3 nutrition is transforming the raw food paradigm" is a joint venture by green smoothie enthusiast Victoria Boutenko and two other raw food advocates, Elaina Love and Chad Sorno.

The authors have all been exploring the raw food diet for a similar time frame (approx 16 years ago). Independently they have, through trial and error, moved 'beyond raw' in a similar vein.

All authors have been 100% raw at some stage, one admittedly militant about it. All now eat what they consider a high raw diet which is a high % of raw, with some cooked, plant based food. They have moved on from gourmet raw recipes which are frequently very high fat and based on nuts and seeds. They feel more grounded eating some cooked food and acknowledge that some food are better cooked or at least lightly steamed such as brassicas.

_I recently read the new e-book by Sarah Wilson about she quit sugar.

Its a good read and  I like her honesty in describing how addictive sugar really is. I totally agree that trying to moderate something you are addicted to is useless - like trying to eat only part of  a chocolate bar!

Those who jump up and down and say they couldn't possibly live without "insert sugar laden food here" are addicted, though few a willing to admit that.

Sugar acts like a drug to the brain, messes with our mood, affects the stability of our blood sugar and excess makes us fat, fructose is worse but too much glucose is a problem too.
